2019 Portland Vintage Racing Festival
Vintage race cars will challenge the Portland International Raceway road course during SVRA’s annual Portland Vintage Racing Festival. The weekend offers race groups for all SVRA classes. Prototype, formula cars, sports racing and production/GT cars from marques such as Lotus, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Porsche and Corvette, principally from the 1950s, through the 1980s, will converge on the track for sage and fun vintage racing. The weekend includes a celebration of BMW with a featured Marque Reunion along with a Trans-Am West Coast Championship Series race. A weekend Hagerty Cars & Caffeine car show offers show entrants the opportunity to participate in track laps at the end of the day.
Located in a city park, Portland International Raceway is a 12-turn, 1.9-mile circuit built on site of the former town of Vanport, which was completely destroyed by a flood in 1948. The land was acquired by the city of Portland in 1960 and the first sports car race was held in conjunction with the 1961 Rose Festival on a circuit composed of some of Vanport’s remaining streets.
