2022 Willow Springs SpeedTour & Driver’s School
“A racing driver needs to be fed a diet of other racing drivers.” – Carroll Smith
Willow Springs International Raceway is the oldest permanent road course in the United States, hosting its inaugural race in November, 1953. All SVRA race groups are invited to this historic 2.5-mile, 9-turn track. Friday is an open Test Day. A Mazda Miata Heritage Cup Series race has been added to the schedule. The feature is a Ford versus Chevy grudge race!
Willow Springs SpeedTour hosts an SVRA Driving School. The school offers a three-day comprehensive curriculum focusing on safety, driver development and car handling. Class size is limited. Instruction includes classroom sessions, multiple on-track instruction sessions and a full feature race. Students successfully completing the SVRA Driver’s School will end the weekend receiving a one year SVRA membership and license.
Nestled against the foothills of California high desert, Willow Springs challenges include substantial elevation changes and a very tricky decreasing-radius final turn. The long high-speed straights and fast corners earned Willow the moniker, “Fastest Road in the West.”
For seven decades, Willow’s close proximity to Hollywood has made the track a favorite for commercials, television shows and movies. Action scenes in everything from The Love Bug, Ford vs Ferrari, to BBC’s Top Gear have been filmed at the circuit. In addition to a weekend of racing, other activities still in development will make this a jam-packed weekend.
Join SVRA for an entertaining race weekend at a famous venue that’s sure to become one of your favorites.
