2024 PIR SpeedTour
Driving a race car is like dancing with a chainsaw. – Cale Yarborough
Portland SpeedTour showcases a spectacular gathering of racers joining together to enjoy Portland International Raceway’s 12-turn, 2.0-mile track.
SpeedTour weekend offers race groups for all SVRA classes…prototype, formula, sports-racing and production/GT cars from marques such as Lotus, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Porsche and Corvette, principally from road racing’s Golden Age will converge on the riverside track for nostalgic and exciting vintage racing.
PIR is built on the former location of Vanport, which was destroyed in 1948, when a dike on the Columbia River broke and flooded the city. In 1960, the Portland Jaycees saw the potential of the abandoned roads to become a road race course. In 1961 the first Rose Cup auto race was held. Since then, Portland has hosted Champ Car, IMSA, NASCAR and more. PIR is conveniently sited in North Portland, adjacent to hotels, restaurants and race shops that cater to enthusiasts.
