Sportscar Vintage Racing Association is one of the largest organizations hosting historic races in North America
MILLVILLE, N.J. – New Jersey Motorsports Park announced today that the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association will return to Thunderbolt Raceway through the 2015 season, starting with an event next season. The 2013 date will be announced shortly, according to officials representing both the park and SVRA.
NJMP’s event will be part of an expanded SVRA East schedule, which is set to include tracks such as Watkins Glen, Sebring International Raceway, and the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, according to new series owner Tony Parella.
“We expect to announce our complete 2013 schedule by the end of October,” said SVRA President & CEO Tony Parella. “ Our entire team is hard at work on finalizing the schedules for both our East and West Coast operations and promise everyone that it will be worth the wait”
Under new ownership, SVRA is also planning an Eastern Regional Championship, in addition to a National Championship, structured so that point leaders from both coasts, and perhaps other racing organizations, will be invited to compete for a national title that will conclude the 2013 season.
“With the amount of vintage racing enthusiasts we have in the region, we’re excited to welcome the SVRA event back to NJMP next year and beyond,” stated NJMP General Manager, Brad Scott. “We’re pleased to add another great event weekend to our schedule and look forward to working with Tony and his team moving forward.”
Previously, SVRA has visited Southern New Jersey three times, in 2008, 2009, and 2011.
