2019 Road Atlanta Grand Prix – Featuring the VROC Charity Pro Am!
This is the second year that the Road Atlanta Grand Prix is on SVRA’s schedule. This year the event is NOT on Easter Weekend. All SVRA vintage race groups are invited. The on-track activities start on Thursday with a Test Day.
This weekend showcases the inaugural Vintage Race of Champions Charity Pro-Am (VROC) race. The VROC feature race pairs veteran Indy, IMSA, Trans Am, NASCAR and F.1 drivers with amateur racing partners driving Corvettes, Camaros and Mustangs in a 45-minute race. The Charity Pro-Am event will benefit Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit organization that provides assistance to post 9/11 combat-wounded service members, their families and the families of those killed in action.
A Marque Reunion honoring Porsche 911s and 356s has been announced. The weekend host round two of the Mazda Heritage Cup series for first generation 1.6 & 1.8 Miatas. The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli and the International GT Series will also share the weekend.
The Hagerty Cars and Caffeine car show will fill the display field with classic, performance and exotic automobiles. In addition to racing there are many special events being planned that will highlight the weekend.
Road Atlanta is touted as one of the world’s best road courses in the United States. The track offers a 2.54-mile, 12-turn road course. The unique combination of fast sweeping corners, quick esses, off-camber turns, elevation changes and high-speed straights has created some of North America’s most famous racing moments.
