Registrations Closed for 2015 SVRA Sonoma Historics Motorsports Festival

Registration for the 2015 SVRA Sonoma Historics Motorsports Festival is now closed. Entrants lists for all race groups are complete, and requests for entries has been closed. Any pending requests will be placed on a waiting list. If places become available, the slots will be allocated to the order in which they were received.

The Sonoma Historics Motorsports Festival, May 28-31 at Sonoma Raceway, also marks the launch of the SVRA Gold Medallion Car Certification program. This event is exclusively for cars meeting the SVRA Gold Medallion car preparation standards. The Gold Medallion Program is intended to identify and reward owners who prepare their vintage race cars in a manner consistent with how they were originally raced, reflecting the configuration the race car would have had when it was new. This program reflects SVRA’s commitment to quality and historical accuracy – principles which the organization considers essential to the vintage racing experience and to growing the sport of vintage racing.

The Sonoma Historics Motorsports Festival hosts some of the greatest vintage race cars in the world. The Historic Trans-Am cars are the featured race group at Sonoma in 2015, while Allard is the featured marque.

“We were confident that the vintage racing community would support this event. This response to the Gold Medallion Program proves that people are both paying attention to, and approving of, the direction in which SVRA is moving,” said Tony Parella, President and CEO of SVRA.

Run previously under an assortment of different names, 2015 marks the Sonoma event’s 29th year and, once again, Steve Earle will be heavily involved in the event. Earle is a member of the SVRA executive team, serving both as a historian and an advisor to the SVRA on the organization and implication of the Gold Medallion Program, which are based on the General Racing rules Earle first put together.

“I have been involved in vintage racing for over 40 years, and I look forward to lending my experience and knowledge to help and support the growth of SVRA through the Gold Medallion Program,” said Earle.
