Southlake, TX (December 13, 2012) The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association has announced an agreement with the Trans Am Race Company, LLC to present Trans Am races at four of its 2013 events. Concurrently the organization announced that it is standardizing entry fees at all 2013 events, with the exception of the Mobil-1 12 hours of Sebring.
SVRA President & CEO commented on the agreement with the Trans Am Race Company by saying, “The integration of the Trans Am series at selected SVRA events is a bonus at several levels. First it broadens the appeal to our fans as historic and contemporary Trans Am race cars can be seen on the same weekend, clearly demonstrating why this form of racing is the longest running race series in the U.S. Secondly, it allows us to purchase additional track time giving competitors the same amount of track time as a normal SVRA weekend. Lastly, and most importantly, it allows SVRA to standardize entry fees resulting in reduced costs for our competitors.”
“Our partnership with SVRA gives the Trans Am Series the opportunity to showcase historic Trans Am racing with the new generation of Trans Am cars at legendary race tracks, in event filled weekends,” commented John Clagett, President of the Trans Am Race Company. Clagett also stated, “When we started the Trans Am Race Company one of the goals of our business plan was to embrace our history and heritage by incorporating Vintage Trans Am with what the Trans Am Race Company offers and this collaboration accomplishes that. There’s so much history associated with Trans Am and so much momentum going forward that it’s going to be great to combine the two for an unparalleled experience in 2013.”
The 2013 SVRA and Trans Am Series joint events will be held at the following venues;
February 27 – March 3 — Sebring International Raceway, Sebring, Fla.
June 6 – 9 — Watkins Glen International, Watkins Glen, N.Y.
September 26 – 29 — Virginia International Raceway, Danville, Va.
October 24 – 27 – venue to be announced shortly
