Vintage racing fans and participants can enjoy the world’s finest 100% rye whiskey at racing events across the country thanks to a new partnership with WhistlePig, the official whiskey of the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association in 2015.
WhistlePig is the premier 100% rye, 10-year-aged whiskey, featuring the bold and often untapped flavor of rye. Founded by noted entrepreneur Raj Peter Bhakta with the help of legendary master distiller Dave Pickerell, WhistlePig is leading a surge of innovation in the emerging field of North American whiskey.
WhistlePig whiskey will be available to taste and buy at all SVRA racing events and parties held across the country in 2015. Raj Bhakta and the WhistlePig team will also hold private tastings at select SVRA events of its limited edition 12-year-aged Old World Series, which combines classic old world flavors with WhistlePig’s robust rye for three limited release finishes: Sauternes, Madeira, and Port.
Additionally, throughout the year, SVRA participants will have the opportunity to bid on a one-of-a-kind trip to the WhistlePig distillery in Vermont, opening this summer. The new facility will house every aspect of WhistlePig’s production process: from harvesting the rye fields to distillation, barreling, aging, and bottling. The distillery trip will be a unique opportunity to see the nation’s original whiskey in a land steeped with history. The winning bidder will also receive a barrel of WhistlePig’s signature 10 Year rye whiskey, which is aged for 10 years through a unique double-barrel process, and finished and hand bottled on the WhistlePig farm in Vermont.
“There’s no better compliment to the bold taste of WhistlePig than the classic beauty of vintage racing cars,” said Raj Peter Bhakta, CEO of WhistlePig. “Unequaled quality and rich history go hand in hand, and we are thrilled to offer SVRA participants the opportunity to taste our expression of what was once America’s first whiskey – rye.”
“SVRA’s vintage racing events creates a unique opportunity for WhistlePig to reach out to new customers,” said Tony Parella, CEO and President of SVRA. “This is the right audience to celebrate and appreciate the unique history of WhistlePig and the heritage of American made Rye Whiskey. “
“We see WhistlePig’s involvement with historic racing as an extension of the vintage racing lifestyle. Not only is their involvement increasing awareness of American Rye Whiskey, but it is a means of building brand recognition with racers and the greater car communities.” explained Greg Cooper, SVRA, Director of Sponsorships and Partnerships.
