1992 SVRA Driver of the Year: Harry Gaunt

Harry Gaunt – Indianapolis, IN

Harry was born in Muncie, IN in 1931, later enlisted in the USMC and was a part of the Korean War. He returned to Indiana in 1954 and bought the first Austin Healy in Indiana and joined the SCCA. He raced a 1956 Morgan +4 in SCCA and hill climbs, and from 1959 to 1961 Elva Climax MKI. 1977 began the AMA sidecar racing and was national champion passenger on a Norton Wasp. He competed in Europe in FIM cup from 1975-1976.

He returned to Morgan +4 in 1980 and joined SVRA membership eith member #152. He continues to today in a 1955 Cooper FMII and his vintage Morgan +4. His favorite track was the “old” Road Atlanta.
